Wednesday Night Bible Study

Beginning February 3 we will begin a new study called Living the Lazarus Life. There is a book to read and a simple workbook for class. Using the Lazarus story, we will uncover the power of spiritual transformation. Spiritual transformation  opens the door to a new life available to us through the transforming power of Christ. This is a book read by our Board and Pastors. I hope you will join this exciting opportunity to grow from wherever you are in your relationship with Christ.

If you plan on attending the Lazarus study or are interested in learning more, please contact the church office. The cost is $10 per book. There is a nursery if we know of the need. There is also a meal before the session.

Wednesday Evening Spiritual Formation Group: January - May 2010

As we continue to examine and experience a deeper walk with God, individually and as a group, we will emphasize this winter and spring the combination of strengthening our love for God and fostering love for our neighbors, especially those in need. We will use as our primary text a wonderful, Biblical, practical, readable book by Trevor Hudson: A Mile in My Shoes - Cultivating Compassion. Trevor Hudson, a pastor in South Africa, has led many in his church on local mission trips, compassion, and transformation in the process.

Our group will alternate discussion of the truths in the book with practicing related prayer forms, thus attempting to deepen our desire and understanding of being people of prayer while exploring ways to put our prayer into action in our every day lives. We hope you will join us on this journey! If you have questions or concerns, please contact Bonnie Smith or the Church Office.

No matter how good the preaching or worship is in a particular church, unless people are involved in some kind of small group fellowship, they will leave a local church in 2-3 years and move onto the next--George Carl

What Are Life Groups?

A Life Group is a small group of people within our church who meet regularly to establish a sense of community to live out the reality of the Christian life on a day-to-day basis. The mission of Life Groups is to grow Christ-centered communities through loving relationships.

The benefits of participating in a Life Group are far reaching. In the context of this smaller "spiritual family," you will be able to establish deeper relationships in a warm and safe environment. You will be accepted for who you are while at the same time encouraged to reach your full potential in God. This small group will be a care-giving community as well as a place to grow in areas of serving others. The Body will learn how to grow up into the fullness of Christ as we see the Lord at work in and through each other.

The Life Group is the primary relational cell for permanent connection to the church body here at Little Church on the Lane. The common elements of a Life Group will be: fellowship over food, worship, service on a quarterly basis, group discussion on a focused topic, personal sharing and prayer. Many of you may already be in a Life Group and you did not even know it. Our current Sunday School classes will move toward this model. We will be telling you more in the coming months. We hope you will choose to get involved!
